緊急ショートステイ事業は、都内の他の区でも実施されているが、昨年12月から同事業を開始した杉並区では、経管栄養、胃ろう、在宅酸素、尿管留置、インシュリン注射など日常的に医療行為を必要とする人も受け入れるのが特徴だ。

緊急ショートステイの預け先は、同区内の清川病院で、対象は介護保険の要介護1以上の高齢者。費用は1日つき4,000円で食事代などが別途1,000円かかる。利用には、原則、ケアマネジャーからの申請が必要。詳しい要件、提出書類などは、医療行為の内容など利用者個々の状況で異なるため、問い合わせる。

杉並区は、医療行為も伴う緊急ショートステイの開始について、広報に掲載したほか、区内の居宅介護支援事業所にはすでに通知している。
