東京都足立区の介護付有料老人ホーム「ようせいメディカルヴィラ」は昨年、オープンした。医療法人容生会が経営し、医療ニーズに対応できるのが特徴だ。

　同ホームで暮らす古関志津江さん（７７）＝仮名＝は、要介護度こそ２と軽いが、間質性肺炎で酸素が十分に取り込めず、息苦しくなる。そのため、濃縮した酸素を吸入する在宅酸素療法を使う。

　都内の自宅で暮らしていたが、夫を亡くし、同居の家族は働いているので、昼間はひとり。再発して２カ月間の入院を機に昨年９月、同ホームに入居した。

　「娘が私のために有料老人ホームを１０カ所も見学してくれました。けれども、呼吸器の病気を受け入れてくれる所は、こちらのほかには入居金が１億円も必要な所しかなかったらしいのです」と話す。

　同ホームは入居一時金が３６０万～８４０万円（末期がんを除く）と比較的安いこともあるが、１階に入院用ベッドを備えた有床診療所があり、医療体制が整備されているのが決め手だった。診療所では看護師２人以上が夜勤をしており、ホームの入居者が急変すると、診療所の看護師が駆けつける。
